Job Title: Education Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at School District #62 (Sooke). As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs in a variety of classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with autism, requiring behavior support and learning assistance
  • Take direction from teachers and inclusive education specialists to implement individualized education plans
  • Assist students with daily living skills, academic tasks, and social interactions
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support student learning
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset
  • Experience working with students with autism and other diverse needs
  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting
