Job Summary

Opportunity Overview

As a Strategic Commercial Mortgage Finance Leader at Royal Bank of Canada, you will develop and execute strategies to support the execution of sales plans within an assigned market territory and segment. You will contribute to a differentiated client experience by providing Commercial Mortgage services to new and existing clients through insight, focused financial advice, and solutions to meet their business and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive analysis on income-producing real estate properties, underwrite credit submissions to group risk management, and present terms and conditions of financing to clients/partners.
  • Exercise due diligence with all transactions, including know your client, transaction credit structure, risk-analysis, and client strategy.
  • Price strategically and collect fees within prescribed guidelines, maintaining a balance of growing commercial mortgage revenue, client profitability, and relationship building.
  • Effectively manage pipeline and related activities to grow and retain business, prioritizing client needs and delivering exceptional client experiences.
  • In conjunction with the relationship team, create value-added advice aligned to your expertise and the client's needs, taking responsibility for client problems at first point of contact and engaging appropriate partners to resolve issues.
  • Understand client financial situations, leverage insight from colleagues to ensure respect for client time, and demonstrate interest in the client's business as part of pre-contact planning reviews for all client calls/meetings.
  • Deliver financial and business advice through a differentiated value proposition, presenting solutions that clearly articulate benefits and advantages to the client, and helping the client understand alternatives, navigate, and implement proposed solutions.
  • Participate in local market events, industry and client events, business associations, customer appreciation days, community fundraising, and other community engagement activities.

Requirements

  • Completed post-secondary education and/or 3+ years' experience in commercial banking or commercial real estate lending.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven financial acumen, credit, and risk management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple transactions at various stages of the end-to-end sales process and other business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial real estate lending and/or commercial real estate transactions.
