Job Summary:

The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly skilled Employment and Training Counsellor to join our team. As an Employment and Training Counsellor, you will play a critical role in supporting clients in achieving their employment and training goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their employment needs and eligibility for our programs and services.
  • Develop and implement individualized employment and training plans that align with clients' career goals and aspirations.
  • Provide clients with job search assistance, information on available programs and services, and referrals to community resources.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and other stakeholders to promote our programs and services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and services, and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in employment/career counselling or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse client groups.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality service delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and history.
  • Fluency in an Indigenous language.
