Job Summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a highly skilled Dietitian Consultant to provide expert support and guidance to our portfolio of Long-Term Care and Retirement homes. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nutritional care and expertise to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutritional Care and Support: Provide consultative support to our homes on nutritional care and safety, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care.
  • Menu Planning and Review: Review and provide input on seasonal menus and recipes to ensure they meet the nutritional needs of our residents.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct audits of kitchen and food storage areas, meal production sheets, and dining services to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and guidelines.
  • Staff Development and Training: Provide onboarding and education to new Dietary Managers and staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality nutritional care.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to nutritional care and safety, and lead new initiatives and projects to improve our services.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Medical and other professional staff to determine nutritional needs and therapeutic diets for residents, and communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Degree from a University with a Major in Food and Nutrition, and Registered Dietitian membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing.
  • Experience: 3+ years of management experience in a long-term care setting in a similar role, with exceptional ability to operate independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Skills and Qualities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, staff, and visitors. Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 and the Retirement Homes Act, and excellent project, time management, and communication skills.
