Position : Dietitian Consultant
Southbridge Care Homes, a leader in the management of Long-Term Care and Retirement Homes across Ontario, is in search of a dedicated Dietitian Consultant to provide expert guidance and support to our facilities. This role, reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, offers the unique opportunity to engage with each of our homes regularly, ensuring the highest standards of nutritional care are upheld.
Key Responsibilities Oversee dietary operations with a focus on ensuring resident safety and satisfaction. Collaborate with medical professionals to assess and address the nutritional requirements and therapeutic diets of residents. Evaluate and contribute to the development of seasonal menus and recipes utilized across all Southbridge Care Homes. Identify and rectify unsafe practices or conditions, while educating home leadership on risk management. Ensure compliance with nutritional care and hydration standards as outlined in the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act 2021, in partnership with the Dietary Manager or their designate. Assist Executive Directors in the recruitment and selection of new Dietary Managers at the home level. Facilitate onboarding and training for new Dietary Managers. Maintain and enforce policies and procedures across all homes, while spearheading new initiatives and projects. Provide ongoing consultative support, including audits of kitchen and food storage areas, meal production documentation, dining services, and resident experiences. Ensure quality control of services and products delivered by dietary staff. Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports in accordance with both internal and external guidelines. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: A degree in Food and Nutrition from an accredited university. Registered Dietitian with active membership in the College of Dietitians of Ontario. A minimum of 3 years of management experience in a long-term care environment in a comparable role. Strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage tactfully with residents, staff, and visitors. Familiarity with the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021, and the Retirement Homes Act. Exceptional project management, time management, and communication skills. Willingness to travel frequently within the Ottawa region. Southbridge Care Homes is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace.
