Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian Consultant to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a Dietitian Consultant, you will play a critical role in delivering support and expertise to our portfolio of Long-Term Care and Retirement homes. You will have the opportunity to visit each home and provide consultative support on a routine basis.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee dietary functions for our homes, ensuring resident safety and quality of care.
- Collaborate with medical and professional staff to determine nutritional needs and therapeutic diets for residents.
- Review and provide input on seasonal menus and recipes to ensure they meet our high standards.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions or practices, educating home-level leadership teams on risk management.
- Ensure nutritional care and hydration program standards are met, in collaboration with Dietary Managers.
- Support Executive Directors with recruitment and selection of new Dietary Managers.
- Provide onboarding and education to new Dietary Managers.
- Maintain policies and procedures, leading new initiatives and projects.
- Provide routine consultative support, including auditing kitchen and food storage areas, meal production sheets, and resident experience.
- Ensure quality control of services and products provided by departmental staff.
- Maintain records, statistics, and reports in accordance with internal and external policies and guidelines.
- Degree from a University with a Major in Food and Nutrition.
- Registered Dietitian; Membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario in good standing.
- 3+ years management experience in a Long-Term Care setting in a similar role.
- Exceptional ability to operate independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 and the Retirement Homes Act.
- Excellent interpersonal, project, time management, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Ottawa Ontario region.
