Whistler Waldorf School is a 200+ student institution located in the renowned mountain resort of Whistler, BC Canada. We are currently seeking a qualified Academic Leader to serve as the day-to-day leader of our High School.

The successful candidate will be accountable for upholding legal, pedagogical requirements for operating a Waldorf school in British Columbia, including curriculum planning, delivery, assessment of learning, progress reporting, student safety, and parent relations. They will work collaboratively with the school leadership team to support the mission, vision, and values of Whistler Waldorf School.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding education and student safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Support the Registrar in maintaining accurate student files.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Represent the school with the Ministry of Education and ensure adherence to pedagogical policies and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians.
  • Supervise and evaluate chairs of Lower School, High School, and Student Support.
  • Work in partnership with chairs to ensure curriculum oversight, teacher development, and evaluation.

Human Resources Responsibilities

  • Conduct or oversee faculty performance evaluations.
  • Oversee faculty enrichment and improvement plans.
  • Review and assess hiring and scheduling requirements.
  • Participate in the hiring process for faculty and staff.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee progress report writing.
  • Ensure educational quality through regular program review and improvement.
  • Manage Permanent Student Record forms.
  • Coordinate academic schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Fully certified teacher in BC (or eligible to apply for a BC license).
  • Bachelor's degree in specialty or equivalent post-secondary graduation.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience and 3+ years of educational leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with Waldorf philosophy and techniques.
