Tunneling Project Coordinator Specialist

Aecon is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Tunneling Project Coordinator Specialist to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project.

As part of an alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon has been awarded a contract to provide support services for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The successful candidate will work closely with the TBM Specialist and project team members to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completing project shift reports as needed using internal software
  • Supplying field and office support to tunnel management/operations: assisting in the development and maintenance of work plans and packages in cooperation with construction and engineering, interpreting design documents and drawings, and implementing design in the field
  • Identifying, recording, and reporting any deviations from design documents and drawings
  • Ensuring that construction activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs, and applicable procedures
  • Assisting with finding vendors and completing purchase requisitions on an efficient timeline for procurement to not interfere or delay operations
  • Providing accurate progress reports to tunnel management
  • Assisting and monitoring safety programs and statistics as required
  • Actively involving quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures
  • Supporting TBM and surface shift coordinators: onsite testing of materials/products as required, collection of samples (such as grout or excavated soil) as required, completing quality control checks using internal check sheets, and filling in as shift coordinator as needed
  • Other works as needed during Co-op opportunity
Requirements
  • Pursuing a Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficient written (report writing) communication skills
  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiar with TBM tunneling concept and having a desire to learn
