Job Description

We are seeking a GTA-based Commercial Manager to lead our contract management efforts. This role will require travel to client sites and involve:

  • Forensic reviews of construction schedules to inform project decisions.
  • Developing risk registers and contractual obligations from contract reviews.
  • Reviewing prime contracts to identify obligations, liabilities, and potential risks.
  • Managing contract administration processes and results.
  • Providing interpretation of prime contract language.
  • Developing contract management activities to ensure compliance with prime contracts.
  • Managing contract reporting and identifying deliverables.
  • Communicating with clients to request changes and modifications to meet project requirements.
  • Negotiating change orders, variations, and change issues.
  • Claims avoidance and management, including preparing claims submissions.
  • Analysing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Negotiating subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
  • Liaising with project teams on various matters as required.
  • Developing and implementing best practices and policies within the district and company.
  • Conducting monthly reviews and reporting potential claims and opportunities with Vice President & District Manager.
  • Supporting project pursuit teams and estimating.
  • Developing tender and RFP qualifications.


The Successful Applicant

We are looking for a skilled Commercial Manager with:

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management or a related field.
  • 8+ years' leadership experience in the construction industry.
  • A strong background in contract management.
  • The ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and Primavera P6.
  • Excellent financial and numeracy management skills.
  • A working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts.
  • The ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong project management, organisational, and investigative skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills at multiple levels.
