Crisis Intervention Specialist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Crisis Intervener to join our team. As a Crisis Intervener, you will be responsible for delivering crisis support services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as community organizations and families/friends who are supporting them.
Key Responsibilities- Provide crisis support services, including triage, clinical assessment, and intervention
- Develop and implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies
- Collaborate with community organizations and support persons to provide education, liaison, and advocacy services
- Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve evidence-based outcomes
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in mental health and crisis intervention. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field
- Up-to-date licensure and registration in Nova Scotia
- Two years' experience in mental health and crisis intervention
- Knowledge of crisis intervention issues and ability to implement evidence-based interventions
- Ability to work effectively and safely through a combination of phone and on-site assessment and intervention
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention Training, Defensive Driving Certificate, CPR
- Working knowledge of the Hospitals Act as it pertains to Mental Health
- Ability to complete brief psychiatric assessment and mental status exam
- Basic working knowledge and understanding of DSM-5
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal, clinical, and assessment skills
