Crisis Intervention Specialist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering crisis support services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as community organizations and families/friends who are supporting them.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide crisis support services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, including triage, clinical assessment, and intervention.
- Develop and implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies, including case conferences and precise planning.
- Provide consultation, education, and advocacy services to community organizations and support persons as deemed appropriate.
- Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve evidence-based outcomes.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Crisis Intervention Specialist who possesses the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a health-related discipline from a recognized university.
- Up-to-date applicable licensure and Nova Scotia registration.
- Two years' experience with a specific knowledge of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and system-related issues.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention Training, Defensive Driving Certificate, and CPR.
- Working knowledge of the Hospitals Act as it pertains to Mental Health, and ability to complete brief psychiatric assessments and mental status exams.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, clinical, and assessment skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and government legislation as it pertains to resources and client services.
This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The service runs 24/7, and the successful candidate will be required to work long weeks and short weeks, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $33.97 - $42.89 per hour, with opportunities for developmental pay for less than two years of experience. The position also offers a benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
