Senior Director of Communications

The United Food and Commercial Workers Union 1518 (UFCW 1518) is seeking a Senior Director of Communications to lead its communications activities, including member updates, media messaging, and advancing the union's mission. The ideal candidate will have significant communications leadership experience in a unionized environment, with a proven track record of successful campaign and event management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to engage members, prospective members, and stakeholders.
- Oversee all communications activities, including writing, editing, and publishing content across various channels.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director, Member Engagement & Growth, to ensure swift and impactful communication with members, prospective members, and stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain the union's brand and reputation through effective crisis communications and media relations.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy to engage members and stakeholders, and to promote the union's mission and values.
- Significant communications leadership experience in a unionized environment.
- Proven track record of successful campaign and event management.
- Extensive writing and editing experience across print, social media, and online communications and campaigns.
- Political acumen and enhanced proficiency in utilizing modern communication tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Managing Director, Member Engagement & Growth, and other stakeholders to achieve the union's goals.
UFCW 1518 offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $120,000-130,000, extended health benefits, dental, group life, and disability coverage. The successful candidate will also receive a car allowance, insurance, and gas card for work-related travel costs, as well as a pension plan and generous paid time-off.
