Benefits Consultant

About the Role
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Group Benefits team, contributing to the growth and development of the benefits department and the organization. As a consultant, you will leverage your expertise and in-depth knowledge to provide innovative advice and solutions to mid-large group customers. You will have a proven track record of building strong relationships and delivering exceptional results in the group benefits space.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote strong client and prospect relationships through social and business interactions
- Work with small and mid-size client accounts to provide tailored solutions
- Develop and implement client-specific strategies to support competitive plan design
- Present quarterly experience, financial updates, marketing, and renewal reports to clients
- Educate clients on group benefits and provide options for consideration
- Provide consultative interpretation of reports to support clients in making informed decisions
- Generate new business sales through prospecting and cross-selling initiatives
- Prepare and deliver thorough benefit plan updates, including financial, plan design, and legislative information
- Participate in the renewal negotiation process, prioritizing client needs
- Participate in the RFP process, analyzing carrier submissions and coordinating finalist presentations
- Work closely with other business teams to coordinate relationship management efforts
- Oversight and participation in other NFP projects and tasks as needed
Requirements
- Life Licensed (LLQP) or obtain within the first 6 months
- Minimum 5 years of group benefits insurance experience
- Experience in a relationship/business development role
- Extensive knowledge of group benefits policy contracts and language
- Strong analytical, relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including business writing
- First-rate presentation skills with the ability to engage and connect with an audience
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
