Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at Extendicare Hamilton Home. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care and service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, maintaining proper serving temperatures and adhering to established time limits.
  • Assist Cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked food, such as salads, vegetables, and fruits, following basic instructions and procedures.
  • Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers, and adhere to established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes, participating in facility meetings and attending in-service education programs as assigned.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act, or equivalent experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate and previous dietary experience in a Long-Term Care Home (0-1 year) are preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, read and write English, and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures, and perform moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
