Key Information:

  • Maintenance technicians must be able to repair and maintain all makes of heavy construction equipment, including dozers, bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, scrapers, water wagons, motor graders, compaction rollers, and articulated trucks.
  • A journeyman ticket is required.
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM -5:30 PM (8 Hours regular time, 2 hours over time)
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends (on-call rotation) is essential.
  • The hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Job Description:

Maintenance technicians will be responsible for repairing and maintaining all makes of heavy construction equipment, including dozers, bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, scrapers, water wagons, motor graders, compaction rollers, and articulated trucks.

This includes checking and sampling all components of machines, fueling equipment, maintaining paperwork, and truck upkeep.

Cleanliness, lubrication, and other maintenance work are also key responsibilities.

Service attachments and working tools require maintenance and service.

Emission control systems must be verified and repaired.

Troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions is crucial.

Faults or malfunctions can be diagnosed using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.

Tested equipment must be properly performing and meet manufacturers' specifications.

Maintenance reports and documentation must be kept up to date.

Apprentices may receive instruction from experienced technicians.

Repair work on heavy trucks is also a part of this role.

Effective communication with site management to coordinate maintenance priorities is vital.

Promoting safety awareness through compliance with corporate health and safety policies and procedures is a top priority.

Preventative maintenance is also a key responsibility.

Safe operation/drive of heavy equipment at the work site requirements is mandatory.

Education: Completion of a two-to-three-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over 2 - 3 years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in heavy equipment repair is required to be eligible for trade certification.

A valid class 5 driver's license along with a driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.

A reliable means of transportation is necessary.

Proficient English language skills are required.

Estimated salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 per year, based on experience.
