We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Needs Support Worker to join our dynamic team at Sudbury Catholic District School Board.
Job Summary:
The Special Needs Support Worker will provide direct services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other behaviour-related disabilities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Autism Support Services team to design, implement, and deliver Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) strategies to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students with ASD and other behaviour-related disabilities
- Collaborate with the Autism Support Services team to design and implement ABA strategies
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Work with teachers and other support staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in ABA and special education
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-year program in a related field (e.g. Social Services Worker, Behavioural Science)
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a Behaviour Analysis role or Instructor Therapist role
- Experience working with children and youth with special education needs, particularly those with ASD and behaviour-related disabilities
- Basic knowledge of the Ontario elementary and secondary education system
- Understanding of special education issues, including those relevant to children and youth with ASD and behaviour-related disabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- School Board experience
- Knowledge and experience of types of behavioural assessments
- Current certification in Behaviour Management Systems or other similar training
- Training in applied behaviour analysis principles from a recognized institution
