The English program is situated within a small but collegial department of Humanities alongside programs in History, Christian Studies, and General Studies. As a professor at Ambrose University, you will typically teach a 3-3 load, including courses such as Romantics-present survey, introduction to literature, composition, senior electives in areas of specialization, and broader interest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach English and composition courses that foster academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Pursue ongoing research and publication that contribute to the field of English studies.
  • Participate in regular committee work at departmental and university levels to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
  • Supervise senior students' independent research projects, providing guidance and mentorship to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Provide student academic advising and mentoring, helping students navigate their academic journey and make informed decisions about their careers.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Hold a PhD in English by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrate clear potential for excellent university teaching, with a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise with students.
  • Show capacity for success in research, with a proven track record of publications and presentations.
  • Express a desire and ability to relate Christian faith and the study of literature, aligning with the values and mission of Ambrose University.
