Job Summary

The Regulatory and Financial Audit Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of Definity's compliance function. This position is responsible for assessing and supporting the development of various compliance activities, including Regulatory Compliance Management, Policy Management, and Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement test plans to assess the effectiveness of ICFR and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Conduct audits and testing of internal controls and procedures to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess the design and operational effectiveness of supporting documentation and processes.
  • Identify and evaluate internal control deficiencies and provide recommendations for gap closure and continuous improvement.
  • Provide input into the Management Letter of Representation (LoR) process and assist with preparing reports to management and board committees.
Requirements
  • University degree and recognized professional designations/certifications, such as JD/LLB/CPA/CMA/CGA/CA, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Internal Auditor, etc.
  • 5-7 years of experience in audit and/or compliance oversight, including 3+ years in a Legal/Accounting firm, Management Consulting, or a Public Company Internal function, ideally within the financial services industry.
  • P&C Insurance experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of risk management activities, policy development, and strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships externally and internally with people from all levels to foster a positive risk management culture.
