Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Northern Municipal Executive to lead the administrative management of the Town of Lynn Lake. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader with exceptional operational skills and a proven track record in municipal leadership.

About Us

The Town of Lynn Lake is a small yet diverse community nestled between boreal forest and pristine lakes, offering endless outdoor opportunities. As our Chief Administrative Officer, you will be responsible for implementing Council's vision and ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the town's programs and services.

Responsibilities
  • Administration:
    • Meetings of Council – preparing and organizing all meetings and public hearing agendas;
    • Recording the minutes of all municipal regular meetings, special meetings, and public hearings;
    • Providing council with sound advice on all aspects of municipal governance and legislative requirements.
  • Financial Management:
    • Preparing the annual financial plan – presenting options for the annual financial plan for council's consideration;
    • Monitoring the financial plan – reviewing the monthly/annual financial statements, and cash flow projections as required;
    • Controlling – oversight of the capability to perform day-to-day accounting of the corporation;
    • Reporting – providing council with up-to-date financial information on a regular and timely basis.
  • Human Resource Management:
    • Recruitment and development of employees – including hiring, training, evaluating, promoting, and dismissing employees;
    • Conducting union negotiations with Council;
    • Developing a human resource recruitment/retention plan.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Municipal Administrator certification or willingness to obtain;
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration;
  • 3-5 years of direct experience at the management level;
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, familiar with or willing to learn ASYST bookkeeping software;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, employees, and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to understand and interpret applicable Provincial and Federal legislation.
