About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Mechanical Trades Specialist to join our Building Services Group.

As a Mechanical Trades Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, repairing, inspecting, and decommissioning industrial, commercial, and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration units and systems in provincially owned and leased buildings serviced by the Department.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Connecting to and servicing air delivery systems
  • Installing and servicing hydronic and secondary refrigerant systems and associated controls
  • Ensuring compliance with the National Building Code of Canada, National Energy Code, National Fire Code of Canada, and departmental requirements and standards

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma and Red Seal qualification - Certificate of Qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Red Seal certified technician
  • A valid Nova Scotia driver's license
