We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-time Contract Operations Manager to join our team at Algonquin College. This role is perfect for an individual with strong analytical skills and experience in contract law, looking to make a meaningful contribution to our organization.

About the Role

This part-time position will be responsible for reviewing contracts and making amendments to ensure that the parties' rights and responsibilities are captured and consistent with the requirements of the engagement. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, College policies, and the College's operational environment.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts and amendments to existing internal and external contracts to ensure consistency with the parties' requirements, legislative requirements, College policy, the College's operational environment, and strategic plans.
  • Making recommendations and assisting Contract Approvers to ensure contract revisions are made as required.
  • Providing oversight for existing contracts through review to ensure correct interpretation and administration.
  • Assisting to identify, develop, and amend standard agreements (templates).
  • Reviewing agreements for composition, language, and grammar.
  • Effectively working with managers and third parties to analyze agreements and recommend applications and amendments.
  • Recommending and assisting management to negotiate favourable contract terms for the College.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three (3) years diploma/degree;
  • Legal certifications such as Certified Paralegal, Certified Legal Administrative Specialist, Legal Studies Certification, or Professional Legal Secretary Certification;
  • Detailed technical knowledge of contract law;
  • Strong working knowledge of contracting with government entities;
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and WordPress;
  • Business acumen including financial analysis capabilities;
  • Conflict resolution skills;
  • Public speaking, training personnel, and effective communication skills;
  • Ability to work against timelines on multiple projects without direct supervision.

Salary: $32.06-$38.51 per hour, paid at Payband F, 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
