Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Manager to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office per week). As a key member of our credit risk team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the quality and effectiveness of our loan adjudication process.

The ideal candidate will have eight years or more experience in financial services, with a focus on credit analysis, reporting, and analytics. Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written) is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as good working knowledge of the Canadian business and regulatory landscape.

You will be responsible for leading and coaching a team of credit professionals, acting as a subject matter expert regarding eligibility and viability of loan applications. The role involves hands-on support for loan adjudication and process improvement, requiring strong knowledge in credit, business structures, financial statement analysis, contracts, and the financial and business regulatory environment.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business results, develop and implement credit policies, and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Vice-President, Client Service & Risk. You will also participate in new initiatives, data analytics, key stakeholder reporting, and co-lending with the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support key stakeholders and projects (30%):
    • Work on reporting and analytics, providing insights from data regarding trends;
    • Support the BDC relationship, including co-lend renewal and facilitating updates or enhancements to eligibility;
    • Responsible for eligibility overview training (onboarding) for new team members;
    • Update internal reference and training materials;
    • Guide, support, and participate in process improvement initiatives within NCA and Compliance;
    • Support the implementation of new initiatives;
    • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting new and existing programs from a risk perspective;
  2. Leadership, Coaching, and Team Management (40%):
    • Supervise, coach, and motivate the NCA team in the delivery of exceptional business results;
    • Collaborate with the Talent and Culture team and the VP Client Service & Risk for the development of role profiles, recruitment, and onboarding;
    • Conduct quarterly performance management reviews with team members;
    • Assist with client escalations working with the Client Services Team Leads and VP, Client Service & Risk;
    • Conduct regular team meetings, and 1:1s to foster ongoing communication;
  3. Adjudication of Applications (30%):
    • Adjudicate applications, which includes assessing the viability of the application, evaluating eligibility, and analyzing credit bureau reports;
    • Ensure compliance with credit policies and co-lend special procedures;
    • Communicate clearly to the CRM all credit decisions;
