Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly experienced Construction Manager to oversee the construction of our new manufacturing plant in Port Colborne, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the project, ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the execution of new plant construction projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Lead and direct all functions necessary to safely and efficiently execute the scope of work.
- Manage all risks associated with the execution of the work, including ongoing risk assessment and mitigation efforts.
- Establish and maintain full and efficient alignment for all activities, including all functions, departments, and locations.
- Oversee and direct all activity and staff in strict adherence to requirements.
- Adhere to and support Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada's health, safety & environmental policies.
- Coordinate all activities and communication within the site/project areas, as well as between those areas and other offices.
- Coordinate and implement indirect activities, internal and external, required to support a productive project execution.
- Responsible for assuring all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance with all pertinent requirements.
- Planning, scheduling, tracking, and managing construction milestones.
- Scheduling, including managing CPM in Microsoft Project, updating frequently, and keeping current.
- Track all project delays and log, communicating with client and subcontractors.
- Manage quality assurances in all aspects of project construction.
- Evaluate, manage, motivate and encourage staff and contractors.
- Promote and maintain good contractor and vendor relationships.
- Hold pre-construction meetings with contractors.
- Conduct weekly safety and schedule coordination meetings with contractors, as well as pre-installation meetings.
- Verify that equipment and installations comply with approved submittals.
- Manage contractor compliance.
- Make sure no extra work is allowed without written authorization.
- Make sure changes to the project are approved and documented.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or other related field of study.
- 7+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
- Experience in completing construction projects with a value of $50 million or more.
- Knowledge of applicable local, province, and national statutes and guidelines.
- Must possess understanding of all aspects of building commercial structures, construction tools, materials techniques, and practices.
- Must have an understanding of job costing and margin management.
- Contractor and vendor management experience.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, One-Note and Teams).
- Experience working for a global organization with cross-cultural interaction.
