Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at McMaster Children's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide respiratory care to neonatal patients and their families, while also contributing to education and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal patients in the NICU, including ventilation management and oxygen therapy
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Conduct education sessions for nurses, other healthcare professionals, and students on respiratory care and ventilator management
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
  • Assist in research projects and contribute to the development of evidence-based practice guidelines
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Successful Completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ventilator requirements for the micro-premature population
  • Demonstrate the philosophy of Family-Centered Care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental care
  • Willingness to precept respiratory therapy clinical students
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
  • Experience in a level 3 NICU and attending high-risk deliveries is preferred
