Respiratory Therapist

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in our critical care and respiratory therapy departments.
Responsibilities- Provide respiratory therapy assessments, therapy discharge, and care plans for patients requiring invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Support the care and management of patients in our intensive care unit and emergency department.
- Collaborate with medical specialists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Develop and implement respiratory care plans, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and ABGS.
- Assist patients with pre/post tracheotomy care and needs.
- Participate in Code Blue team and provide respiratory therapy support during emergencies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory care practices and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
- Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Current General Certificate of Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and in good standing.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam.
- Valid BCLS and ACLS certifications.
- Valid NRP certification.
- Recent experience in respiratory rehabilitation, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and oxygen therapy.
- Recent experience in adult critical care and neonatal airway management.
- Demonstrated proficiency in adult oral endotracheal intubation, adult arterial blood gas sampling, and adult tracheostomy management and care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care, support, and critical care management of adult critical care patients.
- Demonstrated leadership and coordinator skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care.
- Demonstrated excellent skills in communication, organization, and interaction with multiple healthcare team members.
