Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in our critical care and respiratory therapy departments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy assessments, therapy discharge, and care plans for patients requiring invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
  • Support the care and management of patients in our intensive care unit and emergency department.
  • Collaborate with medical specialists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and implement respiratory care plans, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and ABGS.
  • Assist patients with pre/post tracheotomy care and needs.
  • Participate in Code Blue team and provide respiratory therapy support during emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory care practices and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Current General Certificate of Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and in good standing.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam.
  • Valid BCLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Valid NRP certification.
  • Recent experience in respiratory rehabilitation, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and oxygen therapy.
  • Recent experience in adult critical care and neonatal airway management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in adult oral endotracheal intubation, adult arterial blood gas sampling, and adult tracheostomy management and care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care, support, and critical care management of adult critical care patients.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coordinator skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care.
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in communication, organization, and interaction with multiple healthcare team members.
