Job Summary:

The Registered Pharmacy Technician will assist in various technical tasks under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including medication consultation, drug dispensing, and computer drug order entry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in medication consultation and drug dispensing
  • Enter computer drug orders and maintain accurate records
  • Prepare and distribute narcotic drugs, bulk compounds, and sterile products
  • Participate in chemotherapy preparation, TPN preparation, and drug pre-packaging
  • Replace ward stock drugs and make deliveries
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy in tasks
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve departmental goals

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
  • Current certification as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Accuracy in computer order entry and pharmaceutical arithmetic
  • Experience with computerized order entry systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including moderate lifting

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate must be available to work all applicable tours and be flexible to occasional changes in hours. They must also commit to the non-availability requirements of the applicable Collective Agreement.

COVID-19 Vaccination:

The successful candidate must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada, and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
