SALARY: $36.18
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the guidance of a licensed Pharmacist, the Licensed Pharmacy Technician engages in a variety of technical responsibilities, including medication consultation, drug dispensing, electronic drug order processing, distribution of controlled substances, bulk drug compounding, preparation of chemotherapy, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) formulation, drug pre-packaging, inventory management, and preparation of sterile pharmaceutical products.
WORK HOURS:
The ideal candidate must be available to work all shifts relevant to the department. Additionally, this role requires flexibility to accommodate occasional changes in scheduling to meet the operational demands of the department and adherence to the non-availability stipulations outlined in the applicable Collective Agreement.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program from a recognized post-secondary institution; Current certification in good standing as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists; Proven accuracy in electronic order processing, pharmaceutical calculations, and understanding of pharmaceutical and medical terminology, including knowledge of both generic and brand name medications; Familiarity with computerized order entry systems, particularly Pharmnet applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); Preference will be given to candidates with experience in an acute care hospital environment; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure setting; Experience and capability to demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques and preparation of sterile dosage forms, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal products (TPN and IV admixtures) preferred; Experience in procurement and inventory management is a significant advantage; Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team as well as work independently; Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills; Proven track record of following specific instructions with a high degree of precision; Physical capability to perform the duties of the position, including moderate lifting and moving carts; Acceptable attendance in accordance with the organization's attendance policy.Candidates must provide proof of having received a complete primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada, with the final dose administered at least 14 days prior to starting work.
