Job Summary:
The Registered Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a Pharmacist to assist in various technical tasks, including medication consultation, drug dispensing, and computer drug order entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile drug product preparation and chemotherapy preparation.
- Enter medication orders into the computer system and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in the distribution of narcotic drugs and other controlled substances.
- Participate in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Current certification in good standing as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including moderate lifting and pushing carts.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department and be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department.
