Job Description

Our team is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Counsellor to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Clinical Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing individual, group and family therapy, education and ongoing assessment of progress to clients. Case coordination and communication across an inter-professional team is an integral component of this role. You will also be responsible for communicating with referral agencies, offering support, and guidance to clients and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage clients with various mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders.
  • Work therapeutically with diverse client populations through group therapy, or other process groups, individual and family therapy and assessment, as required.
  • Deliver education sessions to clients, as well as to public audiences and external groups as needed.
  • Identify treatment issues and goals with clients, coordinating across broader clinical teams when appropriate.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation and follow-up of the client care plan and discharge plans (i.e. continuing care plan).
  • Complete detailed documentation and charting appropriately. Prepare reports or correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Case management of client caseload.
  • Participate in regular meetings and consultation meetings of teams – make recommendations on the basis of the client progress.
  • Liaise with referral sources, such as aftercare providers, EAP representative, parole and probation officers, verbally, electronically and/or in writing on a regular basis and documents same.
  • Engage in personal professional development, maintain appropriate professional associations, and provides current documentation to the Human Resources Department.
  • Act as a resource person for practicum students and other professionals as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum three-five years of clinical experience.
  • Professional experience with individuals with concurrent disorders, such as mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, acute stress disorders, and PTSD.
  • Master Degree in regulated healthcare professionals program preferred.
  • Current registration with a regulated professional College (i.e.: college of SW, College of Psychotherapists).
  • CBT and DBT certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of the DSM-V, including Substance Use Disorders.
