Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Fabrication Shop Coordinator to join our team at Plan Group Inc.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work in a dynamic fabrication shop environment, supporting the coordination of production processes and ensuring smooth operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cut lists for fabrication drawings
  • Run orders through estimating program processes, optimizing efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare comprehensive work order sheets for delivery to floor-level teams
  • Closely collaborate with Procurement to purchase materials as needed, ensuring timely receipt
  • Utilize internal systems to enter work order details, streamlining data management
  • Work directly with Foremen to create as-built documentation on products shipped into project folders
  • Scan all packing slips for good receipts, maintaining accurate records
  • Control documentation with Foremen, managing safety documents, including floor, crane, and forklift inspections, licenses, near misses, and accident reports
  • Create weekly shop production reports for review by the Shop Manager, providing valuable insights
  • Produce monthly planned vs non-planned orders for Shop Manager review, highlighting productivity trends
  • Submit approved timesheets to payroll for hourly staff on a weekly basis, ensuring timely compensation
  • Assist in developing maintenance schedules for shop equipment, collaborating with the Shop Foreman
  • Prepare meeting minutes for the Fabrication Manager, documenting key discussions and decisions
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to the Fabrication Manager and Shop Foreman as needed, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork
  • Actively participate in safety and innovation initiatives, contributing to a culture of excellence
  • Complete monthly productivity reports, analyzing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with the team to improve efficiencies, safety, and innovation within the fabrication shop
  • Assist in preparing binders for the preventative maintenance program, ensuring compliance and organization

Requirements:

  • Completion of a post-secondary business or technical degree, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years' experience in Industrial, Fabrication, or Machine Shops, with additional experience in Manufacturing considered a strong asset
  • VDC experience is a significant advantage
  • Proficient computer skills, advanced Excel skills, and strong proficiency in ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with confidence interacting with all levels of the organization, and ability to write and speak effectively
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, with a willingness to work collaboratively to achieve team goals
