Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Technical Application Specialist to join our team in Vancouver, Canada. As a Technical Application Specialist, you will be responsible for the maintenance and support of multiple Windows, Linux, and cloud applications within our IDEA portfolio.

You will partner across IT, assigned business lines, and 3rd-party vendors to analyze issues and technical system needs to resolve business issues and provide business solutions. Your expertise will enable you to work on critical RBC applications and contribute to their success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, resolve, and report on medium to highly complex technical issues requiring business application understanding.
  • Proactively identify and act on emerging issues (and work with Development teams) to resolve them in the short and long term.
  • Learn about multiple applications and technologies and how they interact to provide cross-function support.
  • Makes recommendations on process improvements and enhances system and support documentation.
  • Raise support tickets and work closely with vendors when additional support and learning is required for vendor-developed applications.
  • Actively participate in Agile development projects to represent the interests of maintaining Production application stability and adhering to Production readiness standards.
  • Work on IT Risk deliverables: participate in DR exercises, help in DR planning and design; interacting with various auditors and make sure that applications function according to published RBC IT Risk Standards.
  • Provide direction, expertise, feedback, coaching, and development to build the capabilities of more junior staff.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a production support role and supporting multiple applications.
  • Strong analytical skill set and strong communication skills. Be able to communicate effectively in both technical and business terms.
  • Ability to work independently, apply critical and strategic thinking to issues, and manage deadlines while multi-tasking amongst different priorities.
  • Have working knowledge of ITIL Standards, Methodologies, SDLC, & audit requirements.
  • Experience working with teams across various geographies. Familiar and comfortable with Change Management activities. Computer Science degree or equivalent.

Salary Estimate: Based on the location and industry, the estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
