Respiratory Care Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and education to patients with a variety of respiratory illnesses.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients to identify care needs and consult with referring physicians to develop patient care plans.
- Provide direct patient care, including pulmonary function tests, methacholine challenge tests, and exercise oximeter studies.
- Develop and implement education sessions for patients and families on respiratory illnesses and care.
- Monitor and maintain pulmonary function and other respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring calibration and quality control checks are performed.
- Participate in cardiac arrests as an active member of the cardiac arrest/trauma team.
- Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation support of patients, including routine care and monitoring of artificial airways.
- Maintain patient statistics, records, progress reports, and evaluation data, as per established procedures.
- Provide orientation and in-services sessions for new department staff on pulmonary function equipment and hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of respiratory therapy materials and provide information to patients, families, and interested parties regarding available respiratory services.
- Graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy program.
- Two years' recent related clinical experience in an acute care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) credentialing exam and eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Current CPR Level C or equivalent and Neonatal Program (NRP) certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of respiratory therapy and respiratory diseases as it relates to the position.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to teach students, patients, and families on an individual and/or group basis.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to operate and maintain related respiratory equipment.
- Ability to set priorities and work independently.
