Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Plastics Machine Operator to join our team at EPL Plastics. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various plastic processing equipment, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments to equipment to optimize production performance.
  • Weigh and mix resins, colorants, and other chemicals according to formulae to produce high-quality plastic materials.
  • Monitor and inspect the quality of material produced, identifying and addressing any defects or issues.
  • Operate mixing machines to blend plastic and other chemicals to a specific consistency and viscosity.
  • Unload mixture into containers or conveyors for further processing.
  • Set up and operate calender machines to transform plastic bales or slabs into continuous sheets or films of specified thickness.
  • Adjust calender rollers for production line changes.
  • Set up and operate extruding machines to extrude plastic compounds through nozzles or dies.
  • Change dies on extruding machines according to production line changes.
  • Set up and operate moulding machines to mould plastic products.
  • Prepare and change moulds and adjust equipment for production line changes.
  • Follow formulation cards to mix resin batches for injection moulding processes.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform trimming and sanding of plastic or fiberglass parts as needed.

Requirements:

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to distinguish between colours.
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Handling heavy loads.
  • Hand-eye co-ordination.
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Overtime required.
  • Physically demanding.
  • Standing for extended periods.
