Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plastics Machine Operator to join our team at EPL Plastics. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various plastics manufacturing equipment, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments to equipment to maintain optimal performance.
  • Weigh and mix resins, colorants, and other chemicals according to formulae to produce high-quality plastics.
  • Monitor and inspect the quality of material produced, identifying and addressing any defects or issues.
  • Operate mixing machines to blend plastic and other chemicals to a specific consistency and viscosity.
  • Unload mixture into containers or conveyors for further processing.
  • Set up and operate calender machines to transform plastic bales or slabs into continuous sheets or films of specified thickness.
  • Adjust calender rollers for production line changes.
  • Set up and operate extruding machines to extrude plastic compounds through nozzles or dies.
  • Change dies on extruding machines according to production line changes.
  • Set up and operate moulding machines to mould plastic products.
  • Prepare and change moulds and adjust equipment for production line changes.
  • Follow formulation cards to mix resin batches for injection moulding processes.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform trimming and sanding of plastic or fiberglass parts as required.
Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in plastics manufacturing or a related field.
  • Ability to distinguish between colours and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods and handling heavy loads.
  • Reliability and dependability to meet production deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
