Unit Clerk, Oncology Chemo Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Oncology Chemo team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions and scheduling of tests and services.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, preparing and communicating related instructions to patients and families.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and receiving necessary documents and information.
- Provide receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone calls, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, and maintain physical ability to carry out duties.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm, organize work, operate related equipment, and utilize various computer software applications.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.
