Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our oncology unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transcribe and process clinician orders, utilizing the electronic health record system to schedule tests and services.
  • Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and communicating instructions to patients and families.
  • Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, and prepare documents for clinical teams.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting and registering patients, and responding to inquiries and messages.
  • Participate in staff onboarding and orientation, and support student clinical practicums as required.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent experience in a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, with the ability to keyboard and operate related equipment.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, and knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities.
