About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Supervisor to join our Quality Control team in Red Deer, Alberta.

Job Summary

The NDT Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and actively controlling programs associated with the maintenance, calibration, and operation of NDT and measuring equipment. The successful candidate will ensure that all system setups and testing practices are conducted safely and efficiently, in compliance with best industry practices and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance and technical issues of all tubular NDT equipment and stations;
  • Support production to achieve target production rates by ensuring equipment is configured to produce expected production rates;
  • Review system mechanical and ultrasonic set-ups and assist UT operators in troubleshooting process upsets;
  • Ensure the safety of NDT personnel and that all equipment is utilized safely and in a workmanship-like manner;
  • Ensure adherence to CAN/CSA ISO 9002 and API Q1 Quality Assurance program, including audits and record-keeping;
  • Supervise the maintenance and calibration of NDT equipment and ensure test standards are available and properly machined;
  • Provide recommendations to QA regarding NDT equipment and participate in decisions concerning equipment purchases;
  • Guide mechanical and electrical maintenance personnel on changes, repairs, construction, and new equipment installation for NDT;
  • Update QA programs as required and recommend procedure changes based on process changes;
  • Work closely with corporate NDT to implement new procedures and equipment when required;
  • Ensure laboratory service is available when needed by the production department.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Current Level II NDT Certification in UT, MT, and MFL (expired certs will be accessed, and training and recertification provided);
  • A minimum of five years' experience in the tubular manufacturing industry, plus direct knowledge of tubular manufacturing NDT practices;
  • Current or expired "Materials & Processes" certification;
  • Experience in operating "EDM" equipment;
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills, together with the ability to supervise NDT personnel;
  • Knowledge of pipe mill operations, heat treating procedures, API 5CT (NDT sections), and ASTM or ISO UT, MPI, and MFI specifications;
  • Mechanical aptitude, good manual dexterity, and good hand-eye coordination;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
