Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Automation Specialist to join our team at Hood Packaging Corporation. As an Industrial Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electronic control systems on our production equipment and auxiliary systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to production teams, training users on the best use of existing equipment.
  • Conduct continuous improvement projects to enhance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and overall efficiencies.
  • Maintain all technical documentation related to equipment and systems, including schematics, work instructions, and manuals.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and report in our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Conduct daily system inspections to ensure electrical components are functioning properly.
  • Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Purchasing Specialist on electrical parts in inventory.
  • Submit daily reports to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in conferences and training to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Provide technical support for existing drive systems, troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns.
  • Provide training to Maintenance Mechanics to improve troubleshooting skills.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMPs, Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF).
Requirements
  • 5 to 7 years of PLC programming experience and a degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent certification.
  • 309A or 442A certification is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs/controls/protocols platforms.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of VFD motors and motor controllers.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports for documenting issues/changes to equipment.
  • Ability to implement changes and improvements.
