Baxter is embarking on a transformative journey to separate its ~$5B Kidney Care segment into a standalone company, Vantive. As a key member of the Canadian Depot and Field Service Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of environmental health and safety within this new entity.

As the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for improving existing plans, systems, and processes, focusing on Environmental, Health, and Safety awareness and best practices. You will work closely with the Corporate EHS functional team to provide technical direction and support to the Canadian Depot and Field Service Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a culture that values safety prevention, awareness, healthy lifestyles, adherence to EH&S laws and regulations, and environmental protection.
  • Proactively identify potential EHS hazards through risk assessments, Gemba walks, inspections, and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Organize and lead various employee programs, such as safety and ESD shoes, safety glasses, blood drives, recognition events, and more.
  • Own and maintain EHS policies and procedures within the Quality Management System.
  • Regularly review processes in the Canadian Depots and the Field to ensure EHS principles are being followed by operating management and employees.
  • Collaborate with Canadian Field Regional Managers to prevent accidents with the mobile field workforce.
  • Collect data and update the Corporate EHS database, Gensuite Benchmark, as required.
  • Primary contact for Canadian regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, and reporting.
  • Lead workplace injury investigations and work with leadership to implement related corrective actions.
  • Manage restricted duty and return-to-work requirements in compliance with Canadian Workers Compensation.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety requirements, including department-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience, working in manufacturing, servicing of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
  • Solid knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety principles.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, including leading teams.
  • Self-motivated, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good communication, written, and oral skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle a broad range of tasks and priorities simultaneously and work cross-functionally in a highly-matrixed environment.
