IPEX, a leading provider of advanced plastic piping systems, is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist. Our mission is to shape a better tomorrow by connecting people with water and energy.

This exciting opportunity is based in our Clarkson plant located in Clarkson, ON, and reports to the HSE Business Partner. As a HSE Specialist, you will be part of a diverse group of people-centric professionals, thought leaders, and rapid thinkers who are passionate about making a difference.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing safety observations, assisting the location and stakeholders, coordinating the risk management process, supporting the development and implementation of safe work practices, and other duties to drive the safety culture within the site. This position will also facilitate the internal audit process to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE programs, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the site-specific HSE activities and enhance engagement in HSE programs and standard processes.
  • Lead gap analysis and develop action plans to improve HSE performance.
  • Support and facilitate investigations into HSE non-conformances, accidents, environmental releases, and other incidents.
  • Report incidents to the appropriate authorities and manage the claims process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement HSE training programs and adapt them to local requirements.
  • Support the Health and Safety committee initiatives and maintain summary data for environmental critical metrics.
  • Review and update the hazardous materials program and site-specific training.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognized degree, diploma, or designation in Health & Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or Human Resources.
  • 2+ years of experience with applicable legislations, laws, and standards related to health, safety, environment, and employment standards.
  • 5+ years of experience in Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastic industry.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in management systems.
  • Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer skills and technical proficiency.
