Job Summary

Magna is a leading innovator in the development and manufacturing of high-quality complete seating systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the full scope of health, safety, and environmental programs. This includes coordinating all health and safety policies, procedures, education, and training for both salary and hourly employee groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement all health, safety, and environmental programs and activities, including work refusals, contractor programs, heat stress, WHMIS, TDG, lockout, spill response, and emergency/disaster plans.
  • Support the Magna/MSS Ergonomics Program.
  • Manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSEC) to create a safety culture.
  • Accountable for the 14001 Environmental System, including internal and external audits, maintenance of the ETG document system, training, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety investigations to determine root cause and ensure adequate safety corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain legislative compliance for both safety and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and present annual HS&E training plans to appropriate managers, including orientation.
  • Coordinate the safety concern process.
  • Participate in all Magna-related safety and environmental audits and inspections.
  • Actively participate in the APQP process and ensure that all PHSRs are in place and completed for all equipment.
  • Maintain monthly KOs for safety and environmental.
  • Support the claims management and RTW process at MSS.
  • Manage the first aid process, including training, first aid room, follow-up, and accident investigation.
  • Adhere to and follow all company health and safety policies, practices, and rules for the workplace.
  • Comply with legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Ergonomics/Kinesiology, Environmental Studies, Labor Relations, or Human Resources is required.
  • Three to five years of prior HS&E experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Prior unionized experience would be an asset.
