Job Title: Senior Director, Real Estate Development, Planning

Job Summary:

Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director to lead our Planning and Development team. As a key member of our Real Estate Development department, you will be responsible for overseeing Planning and Development projects across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Planning and Development assistance to the Legal, Real Estate, and Construction Departments during the Due Diligence process for prospective land transactions.
  • Manage the design and Municipal approval process for new stores, renovations, conversions, and ancillary developments in Canada.
  • Assemble a team of consultants to prepare municipal submission applications and create initial design drawings.
  • Determine Planning and Development approvals strategy and coordinate the execution of all Municipal applications.
  • Engage with Municipal Staff, Politicians, and Local Ratepayers to advance applications.
  • Negotiate the details of all required on-site and off-site municipal approvals with Municipal Staff.
  • Contribute to and review the preparation of legal municipal agreements.
  • Provide support during the Building Permit review process to ensure timely issuance.
  • Liaise with the Construction Department to guarantee project completion as per Municipal approval.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Department, contractor, civil engineer, and municipality to implement off-site infrastructure improvements.
  • Assist the Construction Department in preparing project budgets, particularly with costs related to municipal requirements.
  • Liaise with the Real Estate Department to ensure Vendor or Landlord commitments are realized during the development phase.
  • Manage Consultant resources to ensure efficiency and delivery of the Capital Plan.

Requirements:

  • 10 years minimum experience in Planning and Municipal Approvals.
  • Member or eligible for membership to CIP.
