Policy and Legislative Review Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Policy & Regulatory Compliance, this role leads and develops coherent and coordinated policy and legislative review that supports Departmental and Corporate goals. Key responsibilities include overseeing policy development initiatives, liaising with provincial ministries, local municipalities, industry associations, scientific and/or engineering experts, and academia to promote the Department's policy goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and assesses strategic policy supports and advice to the Department on the future, scope, trends, and implications of policy direction.
- Leads the development and coordination of policies, policy updates, and policy options, priorities, and multi-year strategic plan updates for the Department.
- Manages and coordinates research and analysis to assess impacts of policy initiatives and on the development and implementation of strategies, plans, guidelines, and procedures.
- Liaises with provincial ministries and other stakeholders to gather information and provide responses on behalf of the Department.
- Supports the Manager in developing annual business/work plans and multi-year plans and staffing proposals.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, Computer Science, Political Science, or related field.
- Experience in project management and development of Key Performance Indicators.
- Knowledge of policy and research development in a public works environment.
