At Vaco, we are currently seeking a highly skilled Corporate Accounting Specialist to lead our client's financial operations in the Greater Toronto Area. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to take on a leadership role and drive financial excellence.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in corporate accounting, financial management, and leadership. As a Corporate Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for supervising the corporate accounting function, including general ledger, treasury, financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. You will ensure that all financial processes are accurately recorded, reported, and compliant with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and other legislative requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising the preparation of annual and semi-annual financial reports in compliance with PSAS and MIS guidelines
- Cordinating external audits, including small program audits
- Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of remittances and tax-related issues
- Supervising daily operations of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Maintaining a strong control environment to ensure financial services functions and policies align with best practices and regulatory requirements
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Professional Accounting Designation (Chartered Professional Accountant preferred)
- An undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, or accounting
- At least five years' experience in financial accounting, preferably in a public sector setting
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to supervise, delegate, and motivate team members
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this role is between $90,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, including benefits, bonuses, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
