Your Responsibilities:

  1. Efficient Adjudication: You will be responsible for directing and supervising Commissioners to ensure the efficient, timely, and dependable performance of our adjudicative functions.
  2. Panel Establishment: You will establish panels of Commissioners to preside over rate, facility, utility consolidation, and market-related applications and enforcement matters.
  3. Rules and Procedures: You will make rules of practice and procedure to facilitate the smooth operation of our adjudicative process.
  4. Decision Making: As a member of panels, you will render timely and high-quality decisions on applications in accordance with applicable legislative requirements, administrative law, and the principles of natural justice.
  5. Reporting: You will report to our Board of Directors and Adjudication Committee on the efficiency, timeliness, and dependability of adjudicative matters while ensuring and protecting the independence of adjudicative decision making.
  6. Training and Development: You will plan for and ensure the delivery of training and professional development for the Commissioners individually and as a group.
  7. Collaboration: You will work collaboratively with Commissioners and staff members to achieve our organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in a regulatory agency or quasi-judicial administrative tribunal setting, ideally with expertise in energy regulation.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills with the ability to direct and supervise teams.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the energy sector and its regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively.

Location:

This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, with the possibility of remote work arrangements. To be eligible for this role, you must have a principal residence and place of work in Ontario.
