Energy Storage Solutions Manager

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer Lead to join our team as Director of Renewable Energy Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to advise on matters related to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and the deployment of energy storage as part of our growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver: You will be the expert on BESS and advise business operations globally on project development and acquisition initiatives, assessing various BESS technologies for technical performance and useful life, conducting comparative analyses of technologies and equipment suppliers, and identifying potential energy storage opportunities.
- Collaborate: You will oversee the value engineering of energy storage facilities, sharing best practices for design and delivery, and ensuring relevance of underwriting assumptions for financial modeling and proper valuation of existing assets.
- Report: You will share best practices for design and delivery of BESS facilities, complete optimization analyses of microgrid systems featuring BESS, support screening, prioritization, and due diligence of potential energy storage projects, and stay current on government and market regulations impacting energy storage facilities.
You must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the energy sector, specifically in engineering design, construction management, and commissioning of Distributed Energy Resources such as battery energy storage, solar PV, and/or Wind.
A licensed Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng) is required, along with senior-level engineering experience in a management role leading and developing a team.
You should also have experience with utility interconnection regulations, codes, and standards, permitting requirements for Megawatt-scale distributed generation power systems, lithium-ion battery bank designs from top-tier manufacturers, AC and DC power circuits, specification of utility interconnection equipment, control devices, revenue meters, protective relays, circuit breakers, SCADA systems, and Microgrids.
