Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Bunge in Hamilton, ON. As a key member of our EHS department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, the environment, and the community.

About the Role

This is a senior-level position that requires a strong background in environmental health and safety management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective EHS programs, providing technical expertise to plant leadership teams, and promoting a safety-first culture.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental/health science, engineering, or a closely related field, as well as 10+ years of experience in a similar role. They must be proficient in using personal computers and related business software, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain Bunge's EHS standards and programs to promote a best-in-class EHS program, focusing on eliminating serious injuries, fatalities, high potential exposures, and environmental incidents.
  • Provide technical EHS support and professional expertise to plant leadership teams and workforce.
  • Coach, counsel, and develop employees on leading with safety and promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Implement EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors on worksite safety practices, with a focus on HPEs, facility environmental permits, licenses, and requirements.
  • Assist with deploying Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) philosophy, training, and tool deployment.
  • Maintain EHS policies, procedures, standards, and permits to ensure compliance with Bunge global requirements, local, state/provincial, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Perform observations and audits to monitor program effectiveness and prevent serious injuries, fatalities, environmental incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Track and investigate injuries, illnesses, near miss events, environmental incidents, noncompliance, and aid in determining prevention methods.
  • Promote environmental sustainability at the plant, partnering with corporate environmental teams to collect data and drive improvements.
  • Ensure fire protection and security systems are properly managed to protect property from loss, and manage response plans for emergencies.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental/health science, engineering, or a closely related field.
  2. 10+ years of experience in a similar EHS role.
  3. Demonstrated success in implementing EHS programs, providing technical expertise, and promoting a safety-first culture.
  4. Proficiency in using personal computers and related business software.
