About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment Coordinator to join our team at EllisDon. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safety orientations, job site inspections, and onsite first aid assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols.
  • Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations, and take necessary measures to correct them.
  • Review and file subcontractors' safety submittals, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement training programs to educate employees on health and safety procedures, including WHMIS, Fall Protection, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Compile and analyze health and safety statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with site staff to maintain a safety-first culture and promote a culture of safety excellence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety role on institutional, commercial, and residential construction projects.
  • Valid OFA L3 certificate (or ability to obtain).
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate is an asset.
  • Construction Safety Coordinator Gold Seal Certification or CRSP Designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
