Job Summary

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team in Primary Health Care. As a Dietitian, you will play a vital role in providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities. Your expertise will be essential in advising on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring Dietetic Interns.
  • Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent.
  • 1 year of diabetes-related experience required; applicants with less than 1 year of experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of recent related experience in an acute care/community setting.
  • Completion of an approved Dietetic internship.
  • Licensed with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
  • Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator preferred.
  • Experience in Primary Healthcare and working in a rural setting with a diverse client population are assets.
  • Current successful completion of a Basic Life Support (BCLS) program or willingness to obtain.

Working Conditions

  • Long assignment full-time position (approx. 7-month term); 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • Shifts include days, evenings, and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts).
  • Travel to various sites may be required.

Compensation and Incentives

$32.30 - $42.58 Hourly
