Nutrition Specialist for Primary Healthcare

Salary and BenefitsThe successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $67,343 to $88,571 based on a bi-weekly salary of $32.30 to $42.58 per hour and a 75-hour bi-weekly work schedule.
Job Responsibilities- Provide competent, safe and ethical professional practice to patients/clients, families, and communities by advising on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
- Participate in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients/community through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
This role requires collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services within a holistic, client-centered framework.
Qualifications and Skills- Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or a related field.
- 3-5 years of recent experience in an acute care/community setting.
- Completion of an approved Dietetic internship program.
- Licensed with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association.
- Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada.
- Certified Diabetes Educator (required to obtain and maintain this certificate within 3 years of gaining employment in the Integrated CDM model).
- Experience in primary healthcare and working in a rural setting with diverse client populations are assets.
A strong client focus, ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships, and excellent communication and conflict resolution skills are essential for success in this role.
